Description
SoleDesk is a complete point of sale and ERP system built specifically for footwear retail and wholesale businesses. Unlike generic retail software that treats size and colour as an afterthought, SoleDesk is designed around how footwear actually sells, with every style broken down into full colour and size variants that are tracked as separate stock from the moment they are added to the system.
At the counter, SoleDesk gives staff a fast, full screen point of sale built for touchscreens and barcode scanners. Instead of hunting through a flat product list, staff simply tap a style or scan a barcode, then pick the colour and size from a live picker that greys out sizes that are already sold out. Billing supports split payments across cash, card, UPI and credit, along with discounts that can be limited to manager approval, promotional offers, and the ability to hold a bill and come back to it later. If the internet connection drops, billing continues offline and syncs automatically once the connection returns. Bills can be printed on a standard eighty millimeter thermal printer or shared directly over WhatsApp. Cashiers can open and close their own shift with cash reconciliation, and if a customer wants to exchange a pair for a different size or style, that can be done in a single step, with any price difference settled and recorded automatically.
On the stock side, every style in SoleDesk is called an article, and carries details such as brand, category, gender, material, season, size chart, MRP, selling price, tax rate and a photo. Once colours and sizes are selected for a style, SoleDesk automatically generates every combination as its own sellable unit, complete with its own SKU and barcode and its own stock count. Built in size charts cover UK Men six to twelve, UK Women three to eight and UK Kids one to thirteen, and wholesale cartons can be defined for bulk buying and selling. Stock across every colour and size can be viewed and managed on a single grid, purchases can be received by typing quantities directly into that same grid, and a reorder planning tool looks at recent sales to suggest exactly how many pairs of each size and colour should be bought next. Entire catalogues can be imported from a spreadsheet in one step, with new brands, colours and variants created automatically and safe repeated imports. Additional stock tools include stock adjustments, stock takes, barcode label printing, bulk price changes and low stock alerts set per size.
SoleDesk also handles wholesale selling alongside retail. A dedicated wholesale invoice screen lets a business enter quantities into a colour by size grid or add entire cartons at once, with dealer specific pricing applied automatically. Quotations and delivery challans can be converted directly into invoices without retyping anything.
Tax compliance is built in throughout. Every sale automatically calculates central, state and integrated GST as applicable, and an optional price based rule can apply the correct footwear GST slab based on the actual selling price of each pair. For business to business sales, SoleDesk generates the electronic invoice file in the required schema along with the e way bill file for qualifying shipments, and stores the invoice reference number, acknowledgement details, e way bill number, vehicle number and transporter details once they are available, so they print correctly on the final invoice. SoleDesk does not connect directly to the government portals itself, the business uploads the generated files using its own GST login, keeping full control of that process.
Behind every sale and purchase, SoleDesk runs a full double entry accounting engine using weighted average stock valuation. It maintains ledgers for every customer, dealer and supplier, tracks cash and bank accounts, cheques, expenses and income, reconciles bank and UPI statements, and produces a trial balance, profit and loss statement and balance sheet at any time. Reporting goes beyond basic sales figures, with insight reports covering sales by size, sales by brand and gender, sell through rates per style, size curve gaps that show which sizes are running out and breaking a complete size run, and dead stock analysis by season, alongside a dashboard of key performance indicators and trends.
Administration features round out the system, including user accounts with roles and detailed permissions, an audit log of important actions, an approval workflow for things like discount overrides, configurable settings for numbering and offers, and backup and restore that covers both the database and uploaded photos. SoleDesk is intentionally built for a single store rather than a multi branch chain, and it does not connect directly to government compliance portals, focusing instead on preparing accurate, ready to upload records.
Visually, SoleDesk uses a bright, uncluttered interface designed for daily use on a busy shop floor, with large touch friendly controls, clear stock warnings, and automatically generated shoe illustrations for any style that does not yet have a real photo uploaded. It works across desktop, tablet and phone screens.
Technically, SoleDesk is built on PHP eight and MySQL or MariaDB, using plain HTML, CSS and JavaScript with no build step required, which means it runs comfortably on ordinary shared or virtual private server hosting. Because the business owns its own server and database, there is no subscription lock in and full data export and backup are available at any time. Installation is handled through a simple setup wizard, and sample data can be loaded to explore every screen before switching over to real stock and real sales.
